Biography
Sam's practice focuses on patent litigation and counseling. He has worked with leading technology companies in developing both domestic and international enforcement strategies in complex technology cases, and is integrally involved in developing strategies for trial. Sam also has substantial experience in advising technology-driven companies in negotiating complex patent licenses, portfolio development and management, conducting infringement and validity studies and opinions, as well as due diligence and counseling on intellectual property issues related to mergers and acquisitions.

Sam has employed his background in physics to investigate patent disputes in a wide range of the electrical, electromechanical, software, and optical arts, including, medical devices, advanced telecommunications equipment, optical films, wireless communication protocols, military and commercial aircraft components, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), and laser optics.

Based on his professional achievements and peer recognition, Minnesota Law & Politics magazine has named Sam four times (2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010) as a “Rising Star” in the legal profession in Minnesota.
